Pot and plant size guide

When you are shopping on line it can be hard to know what size the plants are and what you are getting. This size guide is to help you know what you are getting.

Starter/Plug Plants
Starter plants (often known as plug plants) are cost effective way of buying plants. All of our plants are grwon in a 4.5cm by 5cm plug. This is bigger than most nurseries but we prefer to have a more established plant. The plants are well rooted and ready to be planted up either into a pot or (if the time of year is right) straight into the garden.
6cm Potted Plants
This is the perfect size for chilli and pepper plants in the early part of the year. In the early months of their life chillies can be a bit delicate. That is why we prefer to send them to you in a small pot. It reduces stress on the plant and helps keep the roots both protected and a little warmer.
9cm Potted Plants
9cm pots are the one of the most cost effective ways of buying plants. All of our 9cm plants have been growing for a long enough period of time to make sure you get a well rooted established plant. This size is perfect for planting out (when the weather permist) and means you get a established garden quicker.
1 litre Jumbo Potted Plants
These are big pots. Around 13cm in diameter and around the same depth. This takes a lot of the growing time away from you giving you are far bigger plant. This pot size is often ready from mid to late April onwards.

Plant Description

Pablano chilli starter plant. A must have for Mexican cooking.

This mild chilli is one of the most popular to come from Mexico. Often called “Ancho” this is part of what is known as the holy trinity of Mexican chillies the other 2 being Mirasol and Passilli. In Mexico once a chilli is dried and sometimes smoked the name changes. Which means Pablano becomes Ancho, hence the occasional confusion. The chilli pepper itself is quite mild and looks very similar to a Bell Pepper. Although it’s mild, it does have a very nice flavour. The large size and thick flesh make it perfect for stuffing as well as roasting. Due to the size of the chilli you don't tend to get as many fruit as other chillies but what it lacks in quantity it makes up for in flavour. The plant itself will grow to around 1 metre in height and has an open habit not making it the best plant for a window sill but a conservatory, greenhouse or a patio in the warmer months would be perfect. To sum it up: If you’re a Chilli lover this is a variety you’ll want to add to your collection. It’s also a great variety to start introducing the whole family to the wonder of Chillies. s.
