Pot and plant size guide

When you are shopping on line it can be hard to know what size the plants are and what you are getting. This size guide is to help you know what you are getting.

Starter/Plug Plants
Starter plants (often known as plug plants) are cost effective way of buying plants. All of our plants are grwon in a 4.5cm by 5cm plug. This is bigger than most nurseries but we prefer to have a more established plant. The plants are well rooted and ready to be planted up either into a pot or (if the time of year is right) straight into the garden.
6cm Potted Plants
This is the perfect size for chilli and pepper plants in the early part of the year. In the early months of their life chillies can be a bit delicate. That is why we prefer to send them to you in a small pot. It reduces stress on the plant and helps keep the roots both protected and a little warmer.
9cm Potted Plants
9cm pots are the one of the most cost effective ways of buying plants. All of our 9cm plants have been growing for a long enough period of time to make sure you get a well rooted established plant. This size is perfect for planting out (when the weather permist) and means you get a established garden quicker.
1 litre Jumbo Potted Plants
These are big pots. Around 13cm in diameter and around the same depth. This takes a lot of the growing time away from you giving you are far bigger plant. This pot size is often ready from mid to late April onwards.

Plant Description

Chillies can be more than useful plants which produce fantastic tasting fruit. This variety proves that not only can the Chillies be eaten (to be fair there are better tasting varieties) but it looks amazing! The leaves are variegated with purple, white and black patches and make a lovely looking plant especially when grown in a pot on its own where it really stands out! The purple flowers also stand out making this a lovely plant for the patio or grown as a houseplant. The Chillies produced are quite short around 3-5cm long with a fairly flat tip. Eventually ripening to red they can be used in any type of cooking you wish. Whilst this isn’t the best tasting Chilli, it is edible and if you are mainly looking for an ornamental plant this is a great choice. To sum up Mainly ornamental and works well in a pot on its own. You can use this Chilli as well. Sounds like a win, win situation!
