Pot and plant size guide

When you are shopping on line it can be hard to know what size the plants are and what you are getting. This size guide is to help you know what you are getting.

Starter/Plug Plants
Starter plants (often known as plug plants) are cost effective way of buying plants. All of our plants are grwon in a 4.5cm by 5cm plug. This is bigger than most nurseries but we prefer to have a more established plant. The plants are well rooted and ready to be planted up either into a pot or (if the time of year is right) straight into the garden.
6cm Potted Plants
This is the perfect size for chilli and pepper plants in the early part of the year. In the early months of their life chillies can be a bit delicate. That is why we prefer to send them to you in a small pot. It reduces stress on the plant and helps keep the roots both protected and a little warmer.
9cm Potted Plants
9cm pots are the one of the most cost effective ways of buying plants. All of our 9cm plants have been growing for a long enough period of time to make sure you get a well rooted established plant. This size is perfect for planting out (when the weather permist) and means you get a established garden quicker.
1 litre Jumbo Potted Plants
These are big pots. Around 13cm in diameter and around the same depth. This takes a lot of the growing time away from you giving you are far bigger plant. This pot size is often ready from mid to late April onwards.

Plant Description

Lemon Verbena plug plant. Amazing lemon scented leaves.

There aren't many herbs that have such an instant wow factor as Lemon Verbena. The lemon sherbet scented leaves are unmistakably lemony. The plant itself is a perennial (will come back every year), over the winter months it'll lose all of its leaves but when the weather improves it soon sprouts and is filled with lovely scented leaves ready for picking. Lemon Verbena is very happy to grow in a pot and in fact can often do better in a pot as this will allow you to bring it to a more sheltered spot in the winter. Then, when the weather gets warmer it can take pride of place on a patio or any sunny spot filling your garden (and maybe your cooking) with fantastic fresh lemon scent. Probably the most famous use of Lemon Verbena is for making tea. Luckily enough it's also the one of the easiest. Simply putting a few leaves in a cup of boiling hot water and allow the leaves to infuse for around 3 minutes (more if you like it stronger) then remove the leaves and enjoy.
